Bird houses

Earlier this month we were fortunate to have fifteen students from Escuela de Guadalupe come to our community to work on a craft project with our residents. Collectively, the students and residents decorated four wooden bird houses as well as several wooden birds that will soon be displayed in our community's courtyard. The residents had a wonderful time working alongside the students as they shared stories, sang songs, and worked on the project. After completing the craft, the students joined us for lunch in the backyard. Thank you to all the students from Escuela de Guadalupe! The bird houses look beautiful and really show all the hard work and creativity put into them.

Sock Hop Blog

This past Friday, Juniper Village went back in time to host an old fashion sock hop full of all the classics from the fifties, from poodle skirts and milk shakes to rock and roll music and cotton candy! We kicked off the night by enjoying hamburgers, hot dogs, and french fries in pink Cadillac themed plates. After the entrée, our residents and friends enjoyed homemade cotton candy from our cotton candy maker as well as hand made milk shakes as they prepared to dance the night away to a live performance of classics from the fifties. Finally,
everyone had a chance to dress up in attire fit for a sock hop and take a picture in front of a juke box! The night was great fun and truly enjoyed by all!  Please check out our video at:

Spring/Flowers

Spring is finally here, and we at Juniper couldn't be more excited!  The warmer weather means that our residents can finally enjoy our beautiful courtyard now that the snow is behind us. During the summer,
we love to have backyard barbeques, stroll along the paths, and sit under the gazebo and visit. To get our courtyard in tip-top shape, residents and staff pitched in to plant flowers and really make our
backyard look like home! Stop by some time to see all the hard work our residents put in to the garden!

Mother's Day Celebration

On the first of the month, we celebrated Mother's Day with our residents and family, recognizing all of the love and care mothers provide. It was a really sweet event dedicated to pampering our mothers and showing them our love. The residents had an opportunity to get their make-up done by a professional beautician, as well as enjoy a relaxing massage. After enjoying our spa treatment, the residents were able to dress up and take beauty shots with family and friends.

As the day wrapped up, everyone enjoyed snacks consisting of finger sandwiches, cookies, fresh fruit, and punch. It was a day full of laughter and reminiscing about everything mothers do for us, and from all of us at Juniper, we hope you had a nice mother's day too!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter from all of us here at Juniper! This past Saturday, residents, family, and staff took advantage of the beautiful weather and participated in a long standing tradition this time of year: an Easter egg hunt! Our egg hunters were equipped with colorful baskets and searched all through the backyard for eggs as the residents watched and cheered them on. After the egg hunt, everyone went inside to enjoy a beautiful brunch and chat with friends and family. This event is a tradition here at Juniper and we hope you can join us next year!

Memories in the Making!

Our residents here at Juniper love to show off their creative side by joining in on our many art projects offered several times a week.  Memories in the Making is just one of our regular art programs, which allows residents to express themselves through painting in a relaxing and quiet setting. The paintings are absolutely beautiful, and if you walk the halls of our building, you can find several of these pieces framed along the walls. Also this month, residents had fun creating and wearing masks adorned with feathers, jewels, and bright paper.  These are just a few of the projects here at Juniper that honor and promote the artistic side of our residents.

Quilting at Juniper

This past Sunday, residents, staff, and family members paired up to help create a quilt of memories to be displayed in our community. Many of our residents have a long history of sewing and needle point, so they joined right in, helping to hand stitch lace and strings of pearls to the fabric. Several sewing machines were also made available so that residents could sew together blocks, comprised of four square pieces of fabric, which will then be compiled into the final product.

In order to make this quilt unique and special to our facility, clear sleeves were also sewn on so that pictures can be displayed right on the quilt, honoring all of our residents. This beautiful handmade quilt, made of warm earth tone fabric, will be displayed on the walls of our building soon, so be sure to stop by and see the end product of a joint effort and a true tribute to our residents.
